Discover Třemošnice

Třemošnice combines impressive history with protected landscapes and clearly signposted routes for hikers and cyclists. Particularly varied is the combination of the ruins of Lichnice Castle, the Berlova vápenka Museum, several nature trails and cultural sites directly in Třemošnice. The ruins of Lichnice Castle and the Železné hory landscape

Lichnice is a castle ruin built in the 13th century by Smil Světlický on a rocky ridge in Podhradí near Třemošnice. The Milada lookout tower is located in one of its towers. From there, you can enjoy a view of the Čáslav Basin. Below Lichnice, the Lovětínská ravine is part of the Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory National Nature Reserve.

The protected landscape can also be explored along the Vlastivědná stezka Krajem Železných hor nature trail. It leads through the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area and the Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory National Nature Reserve. The nature trail is 22 km long and has 15 stops, including Lichnice and Třemošnice.

Nature trails with different focuses

The Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory forest nature trail is 3 km long and leads from Třemošnice via Nouzov to Hedvikov. Information boards along the entire route show the animals and plants found there. The trail runs along paved type 2L forest roads. Part of the Třemošnice forest nature trail passes through the Hedvikovská ravine along the Zlatý potok stream.

The routes differ significantly in length and character: the 22 km nature trail connects 15 stops in the landscape, while the 3 km forest nature trail describes a shorter route with information about flora and fauna. The castle ruin, nature reserves and route layouts thus offer different focuses for an excursion.

Cycle paths from Třemošnice

Specific routes are also designated for cycling. Cycle path 4127 leads from Třemošnice via Prachovice and Heřmanův Městec to Kokešov. It is 28.5 km long and of moderate difficulty. Cycle path 4233 connects Třemošnice and Pařížov along a 5 km-long, also moderately difficult connecting route. This provides a longer route with several towns and a short connecting route as two clearly different options.

Museum, gallery and special places in Třemošnice

At the Berlova vápenka Museum, you can read information boards, view display cases and touch tools that were used in the limeworks. Appointments for group tours can also be arranged outside opening hours. The Městská galerie Třemošnice was created by converting the attic rooms of a former school building and began its activities on 26 June 1999. Its exhibitions change monthly.

Another place with a special background is the Božího Milosrdenství Park. It bears the name of an unrealized church. A stone cross stands at the site of the unrealized religious complex; from there, a path leads to a wooden cross. Motocross races for all age groups are also held at the Kubíkovy Duby motocross venue in Třemošnice.
