Hacky combines a distinctive setting in the landscape with an unusually diverse local history. If you would like to combine culture, expansive views and cycling tradition during your stay, you will find several distinct points of interest here: a windmill with a turbulent history, a chapel dating from 1927, a traditional textile craft heritage and a cycling route through HaÄŤky.

Landscape in the Drahanská vrchovina

Hačky is located on a high plateau in the northeastern part of the Drahanská vrchovina. To the north, the town is protected by Březina Forest and the 562-metre-high Na skalách mountain. From Hačky, there are expansive views across the landscape towards Velký Kosíř. This gives the town a distinct landscape character that you can experience directly on walks and while finding your way around Hacky.

A specific point of interest is the “U dvou studánek 2” spring. It can be reached on foot via a footpath. In addition to the expansive views towards Velký Kosíř, the spring forms a single point of interest in the landscape. The footpath complements the view from the high plateau with movement through the landscape. When choosing accommodation in Hacky, you can therefore consider whether you would like to combine your stay primarily with local history, views of the landscape or a cycling tour.

Windmill, Crafts and Local History

The former wooden windmill in HaÄŤky burned down to its foundations in 1914. In 1923, a new windmill was built on the same site. Its wind wheel has a diameter of 7 metres and consists of six wooden blades. The dates connect the town with the fire and reconstruction at the same location. The design combines wood with the function of a wind wheel. The windmill is privately owned and is not open to the public for visits.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in the centre of Hačky also offers a specific cultural point of reference. It was built in 1927. Above its entrance is a fresco depicting Saints Cyril and Methodius. The local craft tradition also includes Kanafase and Barchete, which were woven in Hačky. Another cultural detail is the composer Antonín Žváček, who was born in Hačky: he composed around 500 works, mainly polkas and waltzes.

Cycling with a Set Start to the Season

For cyclists, Hačky is not merely a place along a route. The annual traditional “otvírání silnic” marks the beginning of the cycling season; Hačky is the destination of the first group ride after winter. The “Za větrnými mlýny okolo Konice” cycling route also passes through Hačky. Its three windmill stations include the Hačky windmill. The route explicitly connects the town’s name with a regional cycling theme and places a different emphasis than a stay focused solely on exploring culture and the landscape.
