Dolní Újezd between the Oderské Hills and the Moravian Gate

Dolní Újezd lies at the foot of the Oderské Hills in the valley of the Moravian Gate. The village combines a landscape with marked trails, regional history and lively local customs. This makes it a destination where outdoor activities and discoveries in the village can be combined.

Cycling and hiking around the village

Cycling route No. 6058 passes through Dolní Újezd and connects to the Amber Trail. The village is therefore one of the stops on a regionally integrated cycling network. In addition, several marked hiking trails run through Dolní Újezd. Those who want to explore the village on foot or by bicycle can therefore choose between different types of routes, without limiting their travel plans to a single experience.

The special status of the forests is also important for your orientation. The Oderské Hills forests on the outskirts of Dolní Újezd are only partially accessible because they belong to the Libavá Military Training Area. The landscape on the edge of the village should therefore not be treated as an unrestrictedly accessible forest area.

Churches, chapels and memorial sites

A prominent cultural and historical site is the Roman Catholic Church of St. Gall in Dolní Újezd. It was built between 1846 and 1849 on the site of an earlier small church dating from 1775. Its construction history thus links two periods of the village’s ecclesiastical history.

The village square and its surroundings also preserve historical points of reference. From around 1824, a chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk stood on what later became the village square. In 1905, a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows was built there. There is also a memorial to those who fell in the First World War next to Farmhouse No. 17 in Dolní Újezd. These sites make a walk through the village interesting also for travelers who prefer to discover regional history through specific buildings and memorials.

Local customs and events

Preserved local customs in Dolní Újezd include the raising and felling of the maypole. The felling is associated with a children’s day at the beginning of June. A St. Hubert’s Mass is held regularly in November. In Staměřice, another village in the surrounding area, the bear-leading tradition is held regularly.

Dolní Újezd Sports Complex

The freely accessible Dolní Újezd Sports Complex has a traffic playground and a children’s area with a sandbox. This provides a specific place for children to engage in play during a stay with the family. A multi-purpose court can also be rented at the sports complex either for a single occasion or with a season pass. It is suitable for tennis, volleyball, football tennis, small-sided football, floorball and basketball. You can therefore choose between several sports and use the local facilities according to your planned activity.
