Bohuslávky: Obora Forest, nature trail and local history

The Študentova Forest Nature Trail in Bohuslávky leads through Obora Forest and begins at a tourist shelter beside the road from Bohuslávky to Dolní Újezd. Five information boards stand along the route. They focus on flora, fauna and life in the forest. In this way, the trail combines a walk through the forest with informative topics presented in an engaging way that is also accessible to younger visitors.

Obora Forest lies west of Bohuslávky and is bordered to the north by the third-class road between Bohuslávky and Dolní Újezd. Its defining tree is a 200-year-old pedunculate oak, which is also regarded as a symbol of Bohuslávky. The name of the nature trail commemorates the local forester Ing. František Študent. His name has been associated with forestry in the forests and surrounding area of Bohuslávky for more than 60 years.

Chapel, farmstead and traces of local history

The history of the town can also be discovered at specific sites. The first written mention of Bohuslávky dates from 1322 and appears in the so-called Osecký misál. The Chapel of All Saints in Bohuslávky dates from 1809. Another sight is the Kovaříkův grunt farmstead, house number 6.

Two crosses are among the smaller local memorial markers. One cross stands by the Chapel of All Saints in Bohuslávky. A second cross stands in Bohuslávky at a wayside crossroads in the direction of Trnávka. Together with the farmstead and the chapel, these sites complement the natural area with cultural and historical discoveries, without requiring you to limit yourself to a single type of excursion.
