Šubířov combines a forested landscape with regional history and clearly traceable routes through the surrounding area. The village was founded on cleared land in a mountainous, wooded part of the estate. Today, natural and cultural themes stand closely side by side here: in Kladecko Nature Park, dense forests with a partly relatively natural mix of tree species shape the landscape, while the Nectava, Romže and Věžnice streams flow through the park.

Wet meadows, rare animals and natural monuments

In the vicinity of Šubířov lies the “private reserve” Bělá. It comprises wet and dry meadows with remarkable plant diversity and rare animals. In the Kladecko area, the U nádrže Natural Monument complements this landscape with wetlands featuring species-rich flowering flora that provide a habitat for amphibians. If you would like to combine different natural settings during your trip, you will find meadows, forests and protected habitats here as clearly distinguishable highlights.

The Kladecko Educational Trail as a Practical Day Route

The Kladecko Educational Trail begins at the Šubířov railway stop and ends in the municipality of Jesenec. It is 8 km long and has 12 stations. You can explore it on foot or by bicycle. A considerable section follows the historic “Napoleonská cesta” route, combining nature observation with a link to history. From the Šubířov railway stop, you can reach the “private reserve” Bělá via a yellow-marked hiking trail and the Kladecko Educational Trail. The combination of a fixed start, destination, length and number of stations makes it easier to assess the trip. The route can therefore be viewed as a clearly defined trail in which nature observation and historical references remain connected. The start at the railway stop and the end in Jesenec also give the route a clear direction.

Church, Bell Tower and Local Tradition

Culture can also be discovered specifically in Šubířov and the surrounding area. The Church of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Šubířov is a Baroque village church dating from 1714 and was added to the state register of cultural monuments in 1973. An annual pilgrimage takes place there on 15 September, the Feast of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows. In the nearby settlement of Chobyně, about 2 km north of Šubířov, there is also a wooden bell tower dating from 1931, which is considered the most significant local monument.
