Stará Ves Nad Ondřejnicí

Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí combines historic architecture with trails through the protected floodplain landscape of Poodří. The Renaissance castle, the Church of St. John the Baptist, and the various cycling and hiking routes each offer a different focus.

Renaissance history and remarkable buildings

The Church of St. John the Baptist was built on the site of an older wooden church at the expense of the then landowner Ctibor the Elder Syrakovský. Construction lasted from 1587 to 1589; in 1591, the church was consecrated by Olomouc Bishop Stanislav Pavlovský. Its architecture belongs to the so-called transitional style, which combines Gothic and Renaissance elements. The interior also contains a detail from the building's early history. During restoration work in 2001 and 2002, a Renaissance figural fresco from the period of the church's foundation before 1600 was uncovered. The fresco depicts Calvary with Christ, Aaron and Moses. The castle in Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí is a Renaissance building from the second half of the 16th century and features impressive sgraffito decoration. Events with different statuses

“Jarní toulání s Kondorem” is a recurring event-based hike with three routes of different lengths. In 2025, the start and finish were in Stará Ves at the Kondor club premises. The 18th edition announced for 2026 was canceled due to bad weather. Anyone wishing to include this event in their travel plans should therefore distinguish between the recurring event and the specific canceled edition. The public food event “Staroveský gulášfest” is also part of the local events calendar. It was announced or listed by the municipality for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
