Jablunkov combines an impressive urban history with nature trails, special collections and lively folklore. This creates a destination where cultural and historical discoveries, observations of nature and traditional events can be combined in different ways. Between museum visits, walks and seasonal festivals, the perspectives change without reducing Jablunkov to just one particular theme.

Museums and History in Jablunkov

The World Bible Museum is located in the Old Monastery in Jablunkov. Its collection currently comprises around 5,000 exhibits. The oldest pieces date from the second half of the 16th century, including examples from 1540, 1549 and 1556/57. With these early pieces, the collection’s historical scope reaches far back into the history of the town and its region. The museum is therefore a notable cultural destination in the town.

The Museum of Tripoint is housed in a building with a Renaissance core dating from the 16th century, which is among the oldest brick buildings in Silesia. The building bears the traditional name Prince's House and became the property of the Těšín princes from the Piast dynasty in the second half of the 16th century. The permanent exhibition “Landscape and People” is also open to visitors at the museum. Historical architecture, local history, and the presentation of landscapes and people thus come together in one place.

Educational Trails and Green Discoveries

The “Příroda Jablunkovska” educational trail is located within the cadastral territory of the town of Jablunkov and is 8 km long. Information boards provide information about the flora, fauna and waterways of the Jablunkovsko region. The “Stezka historií Jablunkova” educational trail complements this focus on nature with a historical emphasis and has 17 stops. The different lengths and numbers of stops provide clear guidance when choosing between a longer route and an exploration divided into more sections. The 8 km of the nature trail and the 17 stops on the historical trail therefore offer two different ways to explore the area: one through the length of a route, the other through a series of individual stops.

The arboretum of the Jablunkov Sanatorium also adds a botanical accent: it comprises 350 species of trees, shrubs and perennials. The grounds of the Jablunkov Sanatorium also feature sculptures by Jan Tříska and Vincent Makovský. Botanical diversity and art thus come together in the surroundings of the sanatorium. In the Jablunkov town forest, you will also find a park with stone sculptures, a pump track and a nature trail. The trail leads to a water feature. Throughout the town, you will therefore encounter both curated collections and paths that combine nature with local exploration.

Pilgrimage and Folklore Festivals

The Jablunkov parish organizes a pilgrimage every year on the Feast of Corpus Christi. The “Jackové dětem” children’s folklore festival also takes place in June. On the first weekend of August, Jablunkov hosts the “Gorolski Świento” folklore festival, described as the oldest festival in the region. Corpus Christi, June and the first weekend of August give a stay a distinctly seasonal and cultural rhythm. Those who would like to combine their visit to Jablunkov with an event can therefore plan their focus around different times of the year.
