Dobratice between the Forest Park, Prašivá and Local History

Dobratice offers a varied combination of short walks, family-friendly experiences, excursions towards Prašivá and noteworthy evidence of the village’s history. If you are looking for accommodation in Dobratice, you will find both manageable activities in the village and hiking routes and destinations in the surrounding area.

Easy Walks and Experiences for Families

Dobratice Forest Park features numerous wooden play elements, an educational trail for children, an outdoor fitness area, a barefoot or sensory trail and a disc golf course. Benches and wooden animal decorations complement the park. This means that, in addition to exercise, there are also places to explore and observe, without the visit being limited to a single activity.

A particularly manageable option is the “Putování Dobraticemi” route. It is easy, 6 km long and leads to the red-marked hiking route towards Prašivá. Parking is available below the Church of St. Philip and James. Those arriving by bus can get off at the Dobratice, Restaurant Na Šenku stop.

Hiking, Cycling and the Žermanice Reservoir

A red-marked hiking trail runs through Dobratice and leads to the 706 m-high summit of Malá Prašivá. A tourist route from Dobratice to Prašivá runs mainly along paved paths and is therefore also suitable for cycling trips. In the opposite direction, the red hiking trail leads to the Žermanice Reservoir, where swimming and water sports are possible. This provides a choice of different excursion directions around the village: a summit destination, a mostly paved route for cycling trips or a body of water offering opportunities for swimming and water sports.

The Prašivá educational trail passes through Vyšní Lhoty, Raškovice, Pražmo, Morávka, Komorní Lhotka, Hnojník, Dobratice, Vojkovice, Horní Domaslavice, Nižní Lhoty and Nošovice. In each municipality it passes through, information boards provide details about local conditions, historical facts, notable figures, and historical and natural sights. The trail thus combines exploring the landscape with regional history, without the individual places appearing merely as points along the way.

Church, Bell Tower and Older Traces

The wooden bell tower in Dobratice was built by local residents at the beginning of the 20th century. It stands on the tourist route towards Prašivá and serves as a resting and stopping point for both locals and visitors. Another sight that can be visited is located in a former cowshed: a manufacturer of decorative candles runs a shop there that visitors can tour.

The Church of St. Philip and James was consecrated in 1865 and is considered the most notable historical sight in Dobratice. The village’s history goes back even further: the first written mention of Dobratice dates from 1580, and an independent parish was established there in 1868. Finds of ceramics in the Šprochovice district suggest that Dobratice originated around 1512. This approximate dating remains dependent on the finds.

Prašivá is also home to the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, dating from 1640. It adds another historical destination to an excursion towards the summit and makes the route appealing not only to hikers but also to visitors interested in culture.
