Ski Runs and Paths around Nové Město

The Novako Jáchymov ski area in Nové Město has a total of 4 km of ski runs of all difficulty levels. Alongside the historic sights, this provides a clearly defined winter sports offering. Those who primarily want to combine their stay with skiing will find Nové Město a specific starting point for this type of experience.

The old pilgrimage route offers a different perspective. It leads from Jáchymov via Nové Město to Mariánská and passes through the town by the Chapel of Our Lady of Altötting and the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. The route thus connects three local reference points: Jáchymov as its starting point, Nové Město as an intermediate stop and Mariánská as the destination of the historic pilgrimage route. Between the houses and trees of Nové Město, the route offers views of Klínovec and Neklid. In this way, the townscape, the course of the route and the mountain landscape become part of the same discovery.

Jáchymovské peklo: Educational Trail with a Mining Connection

For a more extensive hike, the Jáchymovské peklo educational trail is available. It is 8.5 km long and has 12 information stations. The route also passes a system of ponds that were built for mining. The trail therefore combines exercise with information about a specific aspect of regional history. Those who do not want to visit just one individual sight but instead connect several stops along the way will find an independent focus here.

Two Late Baroque Chapels in the Town

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Chapel of Our Lady of Altötting are late Baroque chapels built in the second half of the 18th century. Both add clearly identifiable cultural destinations to the pilgrimage route. The grounds surrounding the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows are accessible. The chapel stands by House No. 4 on the road to Mariánská, in the centre of Nové Město.

The grounds surrounding the Chapel of Our Lady of Altötting are also accessible. It stands on a small hill above the road at the lower eastern edge of Nové Město. Its location therefore differs clearly from that of the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in the centre of the town. Visiting both buildings offers not only two sacred destinations but also two different positions within the town.

Nové Město as a Starting Point for Different Days
