St. Wenceslas Church and local history

Čermná was established in the 13th century before the beginning of German colonisation. The first written mention dates from 1362; at that time, the first known owner of the municipality, Tyček of Ivanovice, was engaged in farming here. The original St. Wenceslas Church, built in 1384, forms part of the building’s history. The former church was demolished in 1913 before the present St. Wenceslas Church was completed in 1915.

The preserved rural architecture also shapes the character of the village: numerous traditional log cabins remain in Čermná. Two groups of log cabins south of the stream are considered particularly noteworthy. A Gothic Madonna and Child from the local church, discovered by chance, dates from the late 14th or early 15th century.
