Discover Výrava: Concerts, Chapels and Biocentres

Výrava combines concert culture with local history and waterside landscapes. The first written record dates back to 1406. The village is also home to the Chapel of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, the Chapel of Our Lady, a monument in the village centre and two biocentres. As a result, Výrava brings together musical events, sacred architectural history, remembrance culture and walks along waterways.

Concerts with a tradition of their own

Since 1998, Letní Parket Výrava has hosted concerts featuring Czech and international performers. Music thus brings a lively venue into the village’s history and complements the older chapels and the war memorial with a contemporary cultural offering. For all events, Letní Parket provides free bus transport to and from the event. The service therefore includes the journey to the concert and the return trip after the event.

Chapels and local history

The history of Výrava can be traced back to 1406 in written sources. The Chapel of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist was built in 1906–1907 on the site of an older chapel. Its present building therefore stands in a place that had already been used for religious purposes.

The Chapel of Our Lady was built in 1868. It stands in the upper part of Výrava, in the direction of Jílovice, above a spring. Compared with the Chapel of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, the two buildings therefore differ both in their location and in the time when they were built. The older Chapel of Our Lady and the building dating from 1906–1907 represent two different stages in the village’s history.

Another historic site is located at Výrava 104, next to the municipal office in the village centre. This is where the monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars stands. It was ceremonially unveiled on 28 October 1948. Its central location and unveiling date connect the monument with remembrance of the two world wars and complement the religious buildings with a place commemorating the 20th century.

Biocentres along the streams

There are also waterside landscape areas around Výrava. The V ráji biocentre was established in 1997 on the Malostranský potok (Číbr) in the cadastral area of the municipality of Výrava. It serves as an oasis for wildlife and is a place for walks. The stream, its function as a refuge for animals and the opportunity to spend time outdoors define this landscape area.

The U Vrbiček biocentre (Ve Vrbičkách) was created in 1996 according to a plan by Ing. Pavel Trávníček on the Libníkovický potok. The pond within it, sometimes called Vrbičky, covers 1.9588 hectares. Compared with the V ráji biocentre, U Vrbiček is therefore located on a different stream and has a clearly defined body of water within the site in the form of the pond. The two years of establishment are only one year apart, but their specific locations and landscape features differ.
