Trubská – Forests, Trails and Little Discoveries

Trubská combines a distinctive forest and meadow landscape with a hiking route that explicitly welcomes families with small children. The village lies on the southwestern edge of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. Those planning a trip with nature experiences, short discoveries and selected activities will find several different points of interest here – from a questing trail to a geologically interesting ravine. The mix ranges from open meadows and pastures to wooded sections and a single geological destination.

Natural Setting and Location

The area around Trubská consists mainly of municipal forests, meadows and pastures. The Dubová forest is located near Trubská. The Hořecká ravine is also located near Trubská; it contains a trilobite fossil site. Dubová is identified as a forest in the surrounding area, while Hořecká, as a ravine, has a paleontological connection.

Another distinctive natural feature is the local “Dibeř” biocentre. It covers 3.0 ha of meadows in the floodplain of the Dibří Stream. Its location in the floodplain places this meadow area within the stream environment. A single English oak in Trubská also stands out because of its size: Its trunk circumference at breast height is 415 cm. As an individual natural feature, it contrasts with the extensive Dibeř biocentre and its 3.0 ha of meadows; the 415 cm refers to the trunk circumference at breast height, not the height of the tree.

The Trubská Questing Trail

The Trubská Questing Trail begins at a turning area at the end of the village next to an information board, where visitors can pick up game cards. These cards accompany the hike as a playful element. The route leads through the forests of Trubská and over Dubový kopec. It is 3.7 km long and has 106 m of ascent and 110 m of descent. The trail therefore includes both uphill and downhill sections. It is intended for families with small children.

Further Activities in the Area

The Dibeřský Stream flows below Trubská. A fire-service water reservoir is located on the stream and is used for swimming in summer. This adds a seasonal water experience to the paths through the forests, meadows and pastures. Cycling is also possible in the area around Trubská on marked routes and trails. The activities have different focuses: The questing route is intended for families with small children, cycling takes place on marked routes and trails, and swimming in the fire-service water reservoir below Trubská is limited to the summer months.

Trubská is accessed via a single road that branches off the Králův Dvůr–Hudlice road. This specific location is just as useful for orientation as the natural attractions themselves.
