Třebestovice between Kersko and village history

Třebestovice lies on the edge of the Kersko forest complex and is part of Kersko Nature Park. Here, you can combine orientation in a natural area with local paths, nature trails and historical traces. The municipality was first mentioned in 993. The forest complex and nature park provide the village with a clear landscape setting, while the early reference points to a long local history. During a stay, nature, village and culture therefore come together within a closely connected thematic area.

There are several memorial sites in the village and its immediate surroundings. The cross standing opposite the small bell tower was erected at the end of the 19th century using voluntary donations. A memorial to those who fell in the First World War stands in front of the inn; it was unveiled on 28 October 1929. A covered Marian memorial stands in a forest near the forester's lodge. The three sites focus on different themes: the cross refers to the history of the village community, the war memorial commemorates those who fell, and the Marian memorial connects the forest with religious remembrance. This gives a visit to the area several historical points of reference, distributed spatially across the village and the forest.

Nature trails and paths around Třebestovice

A local nature trail was created in Třebestovice to mark the 1,020th anniversary of the municipality's founding. Another themed route is the newly marked Bohumil Hrabal Nature Trail. It is 13 kilometres long and includes 13 plus 1 stations with information boards. The trail ends at Panenská cesta near Třebestovice. The route combines exercise with stations where the landscape is experienced not only through its paths but also through a defined thematic itinerary. Its length and number of stations give planning a considerably broader scope than a short walk.

Třebestovice lies on the Poříčany–Nymburk railway line; a hiking trail leads from this line to Kersko. The Třebestovice–Sadská cycle path is integrated into the network of regional cycle routes in the Central Bohemian Region. The two connections offer different ways of travelling through the area: the hiking trail takes Kersko as its destination, while the cycle connection to Sadská forms part of a regional network of routes. For planning your day, the preferred means of transport is therefore the main consideration. The route to Kersko and the connection to Sadská should not be treated as one combined route, but as two separate options.

For a short trip, the Kančí Trail is a good option. The easy nature trail is approximately 0.5 kilometres long and runs between the Kerská–Žižkova and Kerská–Lesní junctions in Třebestovice. It has seven interactive elements and is aimed at children, families and schools. Its approximate length makes the route a clearly defined part of the excursion, while the interactive elements provide a different focus from the 13-kilometre Bohumil Hrabal Nature Trail. Families with children can therefore choose between a short, interactive nature experience and a considerably longer route with information boards.
