Open-Air Museum and Special Collections

The origins of the Polabské národopisné muzeum Přerov nad Labem date back to 1895. The open-air museum includes a former manorial cooperage. It contains an old village school and houses ethnographic exhibitions. Historical everyday culture and the presentation of regional traditions therefore come together here. The open-air museum also hosts traditional Easter and Christmas exhibitions with accompanying programs. Those who want to combine everyday culture and technology will find two different collection approaches in the village.

Another collection awaits you at the Muzeum Moto & Velo. It displays a 1905 Laurin-&-Klement L80 motorcycle with sidecar in its original preserved condition. The exhibit complements the museum visit with a specific piece of technological history.

Castle History and Religious Buildings

At the castle site in Přerov nad Labem, a water fortress has been documented since the mid-13th century. Renaissance and Baroque alterations followed later. The sequence of water fortress, Renaissance and Baroque places the building’s history within several periods. The Renaissance castle is surrounded by a moat crossed by a stone bridge. The Baroque Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity is located near the Renaissance castle.

The Church of Saint Adalbert in Přerov nad Labem was built in the Baroque style in 1681–1682. From May to October, services are held there on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. The Chapel of Saint Adalbert was built at the beginning of the 19th century in the fields on the boundary between Přerov nad Labem and Mochov. A vaulted spring is located beneath the chapel. The fixed service time adds a clear temporal reference point to the historical perspective.

Přerovská hůra and the Nature Monument

The Polabské hůry nature monument protects semi-natural dry grasslands and extensively mown lowland-to-hill meadows. Přerovská hůra is one of its three sections. The protected dry grasslands and meadows differ clearly from the built attractions in the village. On Přerovská hůra there are abandoned small marl quarries with limestone layers or limestone concretions. Access is via a walkable tourist path that continues more than 250 m from the road. This makes it possible to combine the cultural character of the village with an excursion into a clearly described landscape, without reducing the different attractions to a single experience.
