Nova Ves I: Culture, Nature and Cycling Route

Nova Ves I combines local history, nature observation and varied experiences on the road. You will find a destination whose appeal lies in its clearly distinguishable themes: historical remembrance, geological features and routes through the surrounding area. When choosing accommodation, you can therefore make history, landscape or activity the focus of your trip.

Church, monument and multilingual remembrance

The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Nová Ves I has roots dating back to around the year 1300. The church and its entire complex are listed in the Central List of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. A new commemorative plaque at the monument on Bedřichov was unveiled on 18 June 2005; it bears Czech, German and English texts. Bedřichova vyhlídka stands southwest of Nová Ves I on Bedřichov at an elevation of 279 metres above sea level.

Lom u Nové Vsi: Nature with precise directions

The Lom u Nové Vsi Nature Monument is located 1 kilometre west of Nová Ves I. 500 metres beyond the village, an unmarked dirt track branches off to the left from the Nová Ves I–Velim road and leads there. The pond at Lom u Nové Vsi is an important habitat for amphibians, including Triturus vulgaris and Triturus cristatus. Lom u Nové Vsi is of geological and palaeontological importance and serves as a refuge for endangered species and biological communities. The combination of a precise location, directions and natural value helps you plan the excursion as a separate focus.

Cycling route, cultural trail and an event in June

Cycling Route 0109 runs through the municipal area of Nová Ves I towards Kolín, Cerhenice, Pečky and Milčice. The Stezka českých animátorů connects Kolín with Nová Ves u Kolína and introduces important Czech visual artists and animators, including Vladimír Jiránek, Zdeněk Miler and Jiří Trnka; it ends at Václavské náměstí in Nová Ves I. The Válka v krajkách commemorative event, held in remembrance of the Battle of Kolín, takes place every year in June and includes Křečhoř, Lošany and Nová Ves I as venues. This allows you to compare cycling, art-related themes and regional remembrance as different travel interests.

The wider surroundings of Nova Ves I
