Načeradec combines a remarkable historic town center with a picturesque setting in the Blaník Protected Landscape Area. Between its small-scale buildings, historic structures, spacious square and signposted trails, the townscape creates a close juxtaposition of culture and nature. The panorama and trails in the surrounding area lend different accents to a stay: history and architecture take center stage in the center, while the educational trail leads through forests and fields.

Historic Town Center with Many Layers of History

The historic town center of Načeradec is arranged around a spacious, somewhat irregular, approximately rectangular square. The townscape has largely preserved small-scale, low-rise historic buildings, some of which have a rural character. As a result, the square does not seem like a mere collection of individual sights, but rather a cohesive urban space. A large Baroque château stands on the eastern side. St. Peter and Paul Church also reaches far back in history: its origins date to the second half of the 12th century.

The Načeradecký Mass Book is another part of the area’s cultural history. It dates from the late 13th century and is considered the oldest surviving written monument in the Benešov region. The Jewish cemetery in Načeradec dates from the 18th century and documents the former presence of a larger Jewish community. Different eras thus meet in the town center: medieval beginnings, Baroque architecture and evidence of the town’s Jewish history can be mentally connected into a multifaceted picture.

Landscape, Cycling and Trails

Načeradec lies in the Blaník Protected Landscape Area and enjoys a picturesque setting with beautiful panoramic views. Those who would like to explore the surrounding area by bicycle can include the 32-kilometer “In the Footsteps of the Blaník Knights” cycling route, which is classified as moderately difficult. The route leads to Načeradec. Its length and difficulty rating provide clear guidance for planning a day trip without reducing the character of the route to a single experience.

The Sovova educational trail offers its own route for walks and hikes. It runs along forest and field paths and follows the green-marked hiking route in parallel. The educational trail also continues to Načeradec and Velký Blaník. In addition to the historic square, this provides longer routes through the landscape. Fishing at Obecník is permitted from May 1 to December 31 only with a permit. Parking cars at the Obecník dam is signposted.

Between the Townscape and the Protected Landscape

Načeradec’s distinctive character is revealed above all in the interplay between its town center and surroundings. The large square with its château and church brings together the historical impressions, while the cycling route and educational trail direct attention toward the panorama, forests and field paths. This makes it possible to discover cultural history, activity and landscape from different perspectives.
