Němčice Between Local History and Landscape

Němčice invites you to get to know a place through the visible traces of its history and the surrounding landscape. At the center stands a statue of the Virgin Mary, erected in 1890. Němčice also has a monument commemorating those who fell in the First World War. It was unveiled on September 18, 1921, and created by the sculptor Václav Drobník from Kolín. Visitors looking for cultural details during a trip will therefore find several clearly dated points of reference right in the village.

The wooden bell tower has a particularly interesting history. Until 1919, it stood at the site of today's bus shelter. In 1921, it was moved to its present location in the village center. The village center therefore preserves not only a historic structure, but also the memory of its former location. Together with the statue of the Virgin Mary and the war memorial, it creates a tour through different periods of the village's history, without the individual memorial sites representing the same period or function.

Further historical traces can be found along the road toward Býchory. There stands a wooden cross with a depiction of the Crucifixion from 1898; the cross was recently restored. Němčice also has a memorial house dating from 1612. In 1445, a manor or fortress at this site was owned by Jan z Němčic. These dates give the village's history a broad chronological scope: its present-day appearance points to religious monuments, memorial sites and a significantly older history of ownership and construction.

The surrounding area is also part of Němčice's character. The forests around Němčice are visited every year by mushroom pickers from the wider area. A marked hiking trail also passes through the surroundings. If you would like to alternate between local history and an active route, this allows you to combine two different sides of the destination: historical discoveries in the village and a path through the landscape. No specific length or difficulty of the hiking trail is provided.

Němčická pouť is a special event in the annual calendar. It is a recurring public event featuring fairground attractions, a football tournament and dances. This combination of activities gives the festival a varied character and appeals to different interests within a travel group. For planning purposes, the recurring nature of the event is particularly relevant; no specific event date is given here.

Practical information also includes the services available at the municipal office and the connection to Býchory. Fishing cards and fishing permits are sold on weekdays at the Němčice municipal office. Němčice also has a good bus connection with nearby Býchory. Anyone wishing to combine their stay with a visit to Býchory will therefore find a transport connection between the two places. The historical traces, marked hiking trail, forests and Němčická pouť thus offer various ways to get to know Němčice.
