Močovice – Cultural History on the Klejnárka
Močovice combines cultural monuments, archaeological traces and the landscape of the Klejnárka stream. The built-up area contains several historical points of interest; at the same time, the Klejnárka forms the area's landscape axis. If you would like to combine culture and landscape, you will find a range of different themes to explore here. The focus is not solely on a single monument: archaeological traces from different periods, the history of associations and the landscape along the Klejnárka also form part of the picture of Močovice.
Cultural History in the Village
In Močovice, you can visit the classicist Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1831 and is considered an important cultural monument. The classicist style and the precise year of construction give the visit a clear historical context.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is a brick building with a rectangular ground plan, a semicircular apse and a brick gable above the entrance. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the niche of the gable. The architectural details complement the site's sacred character. The rectangular ground plan and semicircular apse shape the exterior, while the gable niche provides a single figurative accent.
The built-up area of Močovice contains several archaeological sites from prehistoric times and the Middle Ages. The archaeological area encompasses periods from prehistory through the Middle Ages to the modern era, including the Early Middle Ages and the transition from the Early to the High Middle Ages.
The history of the village also includes the Sokolovna. It was ceremonially opened on 29 July 1923. The gable still bears the Sokol emblem with outstretched wings and the Hradčany emblem.
Landscape and Surroundings
Močovice lies in the valley of the Klejnárka stream. The Klejnárka forms the area's landscape axis; its surroundings contain extensive alluvial soils as well as loess and loess loam. In this way, the landscape complements the village's cultural and historical points of interest. Depending on your focus, you can orient your stay more towards historic buildings, archaeological topics or landscape features.
The hill of Zadní kupa [Církvice-Jakub] is located nearby. Kačina Chateau is situated in the vicinity of Močovice. The wider regional area also includes Krkanka Mountain, Hořánck Mountain, Ostojovka Mountain [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř] and the Church of Saint George.
Sports and Events
At the sports complex on the Klejnárka, the grass football pitch meets the dimensions required for football competitions. A traditional small-sided football tournament was planned for Močovice, with its 42nd edition including competitions for schoolchildren on Friday, 26 June, from 3:30 p.m., and for men on Saturday, 27 June, from 10 a.m. A nohejbal tournament described as traditional was planned for Saturday, 15 August, from 9 a.m. on the sand court behind the Sokolovna.
