Drahlín – Chapels, Historical Traces and Marked Trails

Drahlín combines local history with marked hiking and cycling trails. Chapels, historical terrain traces, the Brdy Ridge, and the nature of Louky u Drahlína offer different points of interest. Together, they create a place where cultural discoveries, orientation in the landscape, and active routes can be combined.

Chapels and Historical Traces

The chapel in Drahlín stands on the village green. It is dedicated to Saint Wenceslas and was built in 1896. Its original bell was used for military purposes during the Nazi occupation. The small sacred building thus combines a visible connection to the village with architectural and commemorative history.

In Malý Drahlín, the chapel is dedicated to Saint John and was built in 1890. Images of saints can be seen inside through its window. Compared with the chapel on the village green, the two buildings differ in their dedications and years of construction; this makes it possible to connect two distinct historical points of interest.

West of the village centre lies the Tvrziště Drahlín archaeological site, “Na Hradišti,” adjacent to the local sports field. It contains the remains of collapsed cellars, a ditch, and traces of an outer rampart. The site complements the chapels with visible terrain traces and broadens the perspective from individual buildings to the former use of the area.

For orientation within the village, the location of the site west of the centre is helpful. The village green, the sports field, and the historical traces therefore form different reference points that can be clearly distinguished when exploring Drahlín.

Hiking and Cycling on the Brdy Ridge

A marked red hiking trail runs from Čenkov via Dominikální Paseky through Drahlín to Obecnice. The trail connects several places in one continuous direction and passes through Drahlín. It is therefore suitable for planning a route in which the village forms part of a longer hiking trail.

In the Drahlín area, a marked green hiking trail branches off from the red trail and leads north into the CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area. The red and green routes thus differ in their respective directions: the red trail passes through several places, while the green trail continues from Drahlín northwards into the protected landscape.

Marked cycling route 302 runs through Drahlín and Obecnice and continues to Příbram. In addition, cycling route 302 leads to Drahlín as part of the Velký jinecký okruh. Those focusing on cycling can therefore take two different route connections into account: a route towards Příbram and inclusion in the Velký jinecký okruh.

Landscape Orientation and Nature

Above Drahlín, the EBR radiolocation station named Malý Drahlín is a prominent orientation point on the Brdy Ridge. This elevated location adds a distinct landscape aspect to the local history and makes the Brdy Ridge an independent part of the surroundings of Drahlín.

The natural features of Louky u Drahlína include the critically endangered, specially protected butterfly species Modrásek očkovaný (Maculinea teleius) and Modrásek bahenní (Maculinea nausithous). The range of features in Drahlín thus extends from chapels and historical traces to protected species and marked trails.
