Discover Kaňovice: Village Culture on the Northwestern Edge of the Vizovice Highlands

The lowest point of Kaňovice lies at 240 m above sea level. It is located where the Černý potok stream leaves the municipal territory in the direction of Biskupice.

Crosses and wayside shrines can be found in the cemetery, by the chapel, and along the roads toward Seče, Biskupice, and Velký Ořechov. The Panna Maria Prostřednice všech milostí Chapel was built by local residents in 1951–1952. This means that the chapel’s history can be traced not only through its dates but also through the rapid progress of its construction.

Another distinctive place is the Hrabinova farmstead, known as Rolnická usedlost č.p. 19. It is used to present and teach traditional historic crafts. In 2011, the farmstead received an international award for exceptional earthen architecture in Europe. A personal visit to the renovated Hrabinova farmstead can be arranged in advance through the municipal office. Among the traditions still maintained in Kaňovice is the fašankový průvod masek, a masked carnival procession. The tradition of erecting and felling the maypole, known in Czech as stavění a kácení máje, has likewise been preserved.
