Rapotice combines a forested landscape with its local history. The village lies on a hill surrounded by forests, on an upland plateau with gently rolling terrain; coniferous forests predominantly shape the surrounding area. This creates a destination where peaceful landscape impressions, historical traces and community events are closely connected to the village itself.

Living History around the Village Green and Chapel

The history of Rapotice goes back a long way. In 1101, the village became the property of the monastery in Třebíč. In the 13th century, Rapotice belonged to the Templar monastery of Jamolice. In the second half of the 15th century, Rapotice was incorporated into the town of Ivančice as part of the dowry of King George of Poděbrady’s daughter Barbora and Heinrich of Lipá. Later, the village was associated with the town of Krumlov until almost the end of the 19th century. These changing historical connections give the village a multifaceted background without Rapotice losing its rural character.

The historic village green area, which has been preserved to this day, is particularly vivid. Another distinctive landmark is the Chapel of the Ascension of the Lord. It was built in 1857 on the site of a bell tower, renovated in 1995 and consecrated on March 25, 1995. Those interested in small ecclesiastical buildings and established village structures will find two different ways of accessing Rapotice’s history here: the development of the village as a whole and the specific history of a single building.

Hiking with Routes of Different Lengths

Rapotice offers several traditional events centered on physical activity and shared experiences. Rápotova podkova is a traditional autumn hiking march with routes ranging from 5 to 50 kilometers. Cycling routes are also offered. The wide range of hiking distances makes this event particularly versatile: it extends from a shorter loop to a considerably longer tour, while cycling provides another way to experience the landscape.

The Vánoční pochod is a festive event with hiking routes from 5 to 16 kilometers. In winter weather, participants walk off their Christmas cookies together. In spring, Toulky jarní přírodou opens the spring season; the event includes refreshments and socializing. Together, these dates represent different ways of getting out and about: an autumn hiking march, a Christmas winter outing and a shared start to the spring season.

Public Festivals Throughout the Year

The local festivals also show Rapotice as a place with its own traditions. Rapotická pouť is a traditional public family event held at Sokolovna Rapotice. In 2026, it included socializing, a dance evening and a gathering with accordion players. At Rapotické hody 2025, a procession through the municipality with traditional costumes, horses and a brass band took place from 1 p.m. A dance evening with the Moravian Beseda followed from 8 p.m., performed by people in traditional dress.
