Discover Chyšná: Nature, Cycling Routes and Memorial Sites

Chyšná combines a protected natural area, two cycling routes and unusually diverse memorial sites. This makes the locality suitable for travellers who, when choosing accommodation, want to consider not only the landscape but also history and places to visit.

Memorial Sites with Specific Historical Significance

The first granite plaque, bearing American and Czech flags, was unveiled in Chyšná on 5 May 2009. The anti-communist memorial plaques in Chyšná are located on private property: one in front of a residential building and others on the edge of the locality towards Martinice u Onšova. Two further granite plaques belonging to the anti-communist memorial were installed on 17 November 2013 on a large plinth on agricultural land at the edge of the locality.

Also on 17 November 2013, a memorial plaque dedicated to Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev was unveiled on municipal land in front of the local cultural centre. It honours both as representatives of the superpowers whose stance during the Cold War accelerated the fall of communist regimes in Europe. The plaque was produced by the stonemasonry company Jiří Mrťka on the initiative of former political prisoner Josef Fialka. This gives the local history a clear connection to the European history of the 20th century.

Natural Area and Cycling Routes

The Martinický potok Natura 2000 site CZ0613005 also includes the cadastral area of Chyšná. The Martinický potok is protected as a natural monument and as a site of European importance. This means that trip planning can include a nature-related theme directly connected with the landscape around the locality.

Two cycling routes run through Chyšná. Both mainly follow forest and field tracks. Those wishing to include cycling in their stay can therefore take the type of route into account when planning, without limiting the locality to a single place to visit.

Places to Visit in the Surrounding Area

The Želivský Kláštor monastery and the Svatý Jan church are located in the vicinity of Chyšná. The Hejdučka hill [Čechtice-Černičí] is nearby. In the wider regional area, there are also Melechov mountain, Orlík Castle ruins, Špičák mountain, Velký Blaník mountain and the Loreta church. This selection ranges from religious and historical sites to mountains and castle ruins, offering different options for planning the rest of your trip.

Choose the Right Location for Your Trip

When looking for accommodation for your trip to Chyšná, you can first weigh up three priorities: the memorial sites in the locality, the protected natural area with its cycling routes, or trips to destinations in the nearby and wider surrounding area. This distinction helps you choose the location of your accommodation according to your preferred daily itinerary, without confusing the different facets of the region.
