Dolní Krupá combines sacred architectural history, a castle with a local history museum, and the historic ruins of Ronovec Castle. The Church of St. Vitus, “kostel sv. Víta,” is protected as a cultural monument. The church grounds also include the unusual burial chapel of St. Michael.

Zámek Dolní Krupá Castle and Local History Museum

It was established after Josef Čapek found a ceramic fragment from a 13th-century vessel near the now-protected spruce below Ronovec. The museum therefore focuses on archaeological finds from Ronovec, while the surviving structural elements outdoors provide an additional historical perspective.

The castle itself also bears historical traces. Sometime after 1651, Jan Mencel z Bernfelsu converted it from an older fortress. The castle hall features the ceiling fresco “Hold národů císařovně Marii Terezii.” The chronological perspective extends from the former early Gothic Ronovec Castle through the castle conversion sometime after 1651 to the cemetery chapel completed in 1898 and consecrated in honour of the Holy Cross of Jesus. Ronovec: Historic Ruins and a Marked Hiking Trail

Ronovec was a former early Gothic castle and is now a castle ruin between Dolní Krupá, Břevnice and Kojetín. Access is via a yellow-marked hiking trail. Parts of the palace, defensive walls and a watchtower have survived at the site. There are also fragments of a former well and parts of a nearby mill.

The trail gives the visit a clear framework, while the palace, defensive walls and watchtower reveal the surviving structure of the former castle. Together with the local history museum, you can explore Ronovec through both archaeological finds and the surviving structural elements themselves.
