Pavlínov between a waterscape and village history

Pavlínov can be explored through several clearly distinguishable aspects: a long-distance cycling route of regional importance runs through the planning area, a marked blue hiking route reaches the southern edge of the cadastral area, and a stream and ponds shape the landscape around the settlement. In addition, the village features chapels, as well as the remains of Pavlínov Fortress. This creates a destination whose distinctive features become apparent both during active pursuits and through cultural exploration.

Cycling and hiking with different routes

The Jeseník–Znojmo long-distance cycling route of regional importance runs through the planning area of Pavlínov. This section belongs to subsection 103 Kadov–Třebíč. Pavlínov is therefore situated on a longer cycling connection linking two specific place names. Those travelling by bicycle will find not an isolated circular route here, but a section of a long-distance route of regional importance.

The marked blue hiking route reaches the southern edge of the cadastral area of Pavlínov. In contrast, the long-distance cycling route runs through the planning area as subsection 103 of the Jeseník–Znojmo connection.

The Pohořílský Stream, ponds and the Mládkov recreation area

The Pohořílský Stream flows through Pavlínov. Several ponds are located near the settlement, meaning that water is perceptible not merely as an individual point, but as a recurring element of the landscape. The ponds in Pavlínov are used primarily for recreation and fish farming. Their significance is therefore not limited to a single use: they are part of the local recreational landscape as well as of pond management.

A specific expression of this setting can be found at Mládkov Pond. A recreation area with a holiday settlement is located there in the planning area of Pavlínov. At Mládkov Pond, the waterscape combines with a recreation area and a holiday settlement. Together with the Pohořílský Stream flowing through Pavlínov and the other ponds, it forms a focal point of the local waterscape and recreational landscape.

Chapels and traces of the fortress

The chapel on the village square is a significant architectural landmark in the villagescape. Its location makes the village square a specific point of reference for cultural exploration in Pavlínov. The upper chapel stands at the crossroads towards Kamenice and adds another chapel with sacred architecture to the villagescape. The two chapels differ in their locations: one belongs to the village square, while the other stands at a crossroads towards Kamenice.

Pavlínov Fortress is also part of the village's history, although in an explicitly limited form. At a depth of 1.5 m, only remains and cellars survive. This distinction is important when setting expectations for a visit: what is documented is not a fully preserved fortress structure, but an architectural testimony accessible through its preserved remains and cellars.
