Landscape between the Mountains and the National Park
Near Doubice lies Spravedlnost, a wooded basalt hill in the Lusatian Mountains. The 533-metre-high mountain is located 1 kilometre south of Doubice and is also known as Irrichtberg and Soudňák. Forest, basalt and elevation come together here at a single point in the landscape.
At the rocky summit of Spravedlnost there is a viewing platform equipped with a railing and bench. The summit area is protected as the Spravedlnost Nature Reserve. The platform's facilities complement the protected summit area with a specific opportunity to consciously experience the landscape.
Hiking and Cycling Trails around Doubice
Tokáň can be reached from Doubice via a yellow-marked hiking trail or the “První brána” cycle route (number 3076). Pictures have been installed on notable trees along the yellow-marked hiking trail to Tokáň; they were commissioned and installed by the administration of Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The two routes thus appeal to different types of transport, while the pictures connect the marked trail with an additional cultural detail.
A green-marked hiking trail also leads from Doubice into the Kyjov Valley. There you will find a comfortable footpath and a cycle path on a paved road that is also suitable for prams. This difference helps you plan shared days with different requirements for the route. The combination of footpath, cycle path and paved surface makes it easier to adapt the choice of route to different needs.
History and Architectural Heritage in the Village
The Doubice Museum opened to the public on 26 October 2014 as a municipal museum with exhibits and documents on the history of the village. At its opening, it thus brought together material evidence and documentary sources relating to local history. Historically, the museum was housed in the rooms of the former imperial-royal post office in the former “Gasthaus zur Post” inn. The original building dates from 1845 and was half inn and half post office. This former dual function connects the history of the building with two different roles in the village.
The old half-timbered houses in Doubice are considered outstanding examples of the folk architecture of North Bohemia. Historical orientation also includes the late Baroque parish church of the Roman Catholic Parish of Doubice, with Classicist elements. It was built between 1811 and 1814 and has been an immovable cultural monument since 1958. Southwest of Doubice there is also the field chapel of the Holy Trinity, built in the Baroque style in the first half of the 18th century. The church and chapel complement the half-timbered houses with further prominent examples of the village's architectural history.
