Stráž nad Nežárkou Castle is a Baroque feudal manor house. It was created through the extensive rebuilding of a Gothic castle founded in the 13th century by the Vítkovci family. Ema Destinnová settled at the castle at the height of her fame. Her connection with the town also extended to the local theater: She performed on its stage and was appointed an honorary member of the theater association of Stráž nad Nežárkou in 1917.

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul was first mentioned as a parish church in 1361. The chapel of St. Michael was probably added to it during the rebuilding of 1413. The Zvonice bell tower is also part of the historic silhouette; its present form dates from 1861. It was probably originally a defensive bastion of the outer bailey of Stráž Castle. Performances have been held in the theater hall of the community center since 1880; theater is still performed there today. Two fountains stand on Ema Destinnové Square, and another is located on Malé náměstí. They date from the early 19th century.
