Ponds, Forests and the Jindřišské údolí

The picturesque surroundings of Rodvínov invite you to take walks and enjoy a pleasant stay on the banks of small ponds. The forests around Rodvínov are ideal for relaxation and are rich in mushrooms and wild berries. The Jindřišské údolí southeast of the municipality of Rodvínov forms a particularly clearly defined natural area. It covers 9.3 ha and is characterized by ravine forests, fir stands and relict pine trees. Protected plants, fungi and animals are also found there. This allows the landscape to be discovered not only as a backdrop, but also through its various habitats.

Jindřiš: Bridge, Wayside Shrines and Bell

In the Jindřiš district, a Baroque stone bridge crosses the Hamerský potok. It was built around 1856 and is classified as an immovable technical monument. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the bridge. It is still open to motorized traffic. Before Jindřiš, at the junction by the bridge over the Hamerský potok, there is also a wayside shrine dated 1667. At the turnoff to the railway stands another wayside shrine, classified as a cultural monument and bearing registration number 32543 / 3-1956.

The wooden bell tower of Rodvínov also preserves a tangible reminder of local community life. It houses the bell “sv. Prokop”, which was cast publicly in Rodvínov village square from 14 to 16 August 2015. The place thus combines traditional craftsmanship, visible monuments and landscape within a closely connected thematic area.

Educational Trail and Narrow-Gauge Railway

The Jindrova naučná stezka is an 11 km-long educational trail along the Hamerský potok. It runs from Jindřichův Hradec through Jindřiš and onward through the Jindřišské údolí via Blažejov and Dvoreček to Ratmírovský rybník. The route explains the Hamerský potok and its surroundings. It currently has 21 information panels; each panel also contains a section for preschool children and younger schoolchildren. This allows families to combine observing nature with accessible information along the route, without having to consider the cultural and landscape-related themes separately.

Another distinctive feature is the Jindřichův Hradec–Nová Bystřice narrow-gauge railway. It has two stops in Jindřiš and is regarded primarily as an important technical monument. For orientation in Rodvínov and Jindřiš, not only paths and landscapes but also historic transport technology are therefore part of the local character.
