Discover Příbraz: moors, chapels and local history
If you are looking for a place for your stay where landscape and tangible cultural heritage come together, Příbraz offers a clear starting point. Its distinctive features range from a flat moorland landscape to buildings from different periods and a running event. Nature, architectural heritage and a sporting event therefore stand side by side – several points of connection for planning your trip.
Flat landscape with moorland features
Příbraz is situated in a flat, marshy landscape. Behind Příbraz are peat bog areas that are remnants of the former swamps and moors. Příbraz is also located a few kilometres outside the boundary of the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. If you consider the landscape an important criterion when choosing your destination, here you are consciously opting for flat terrain, former swamp and moorland areas, and proximity to a protected landscape area.
Local history and tangible buildings
The oldest written reference to Příbraz dates from 1518. The cultural history also includes farmhouse No. 12, which is listed in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments. The year 1518 places Příbraz as early as the beginning of the 16th century. The Husův sbor from 1925 represents a considerably more recent period in the village’s history. More than four centuries lie between the two dates.
The Husův sbor is a chapel of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and was built in 1925. The Chapel of the Most Sacred Heart of the Lord creates a distinctive architectural accent of its own: it consists of 66 larch slats, was consecrated on 26 June 2014 and is located on the outskirts of Příbraz. The precise material specification and complete consecration date in particular make this place an especially vivid detail for anyone whose travels also include a search for unusual religious buildings.
A running event with two courses
At the 5th Rýšův běh Příbraz on Saturday, 14 March 2026, the main races covered 6.5 km and 10.8 km; the start was in front of the inn on the village green. The difference between the two main race distances is 4.3 km. The two distances give you a clear way to compare the main races on offer by length, without assuming any other characteristics of the courses.
An important local restriction
Sport fishing at Maxák Pond is permitted exclusively to children with a registered permanent residence in the municipality of Příbraz. For visiting guests, this regulation is therefore a clear restriction: sport fishing at Maxák Pond is not described as a general offer for visitors.
