Holubovska Basta

Holubovska Basta combines the history of a traditional South Bohemian folk settlement with the waterscape around Dehtář Pond. Isolated farmsteads lie between Dehtář and Posměšek ponds; at the same time, several documented cycling routes pass through the settlement. Village history between two ponds

Holubovská Bašta lies on the shore of Dehtář recreational pond. Swimming is possible in natural surroundings at the pond, while the settlement itself preserves traces of history. Notable buildings include a preserved granary with a gate dating from the 16th century. Holubovská Bašta also has an 18th-century wayside chapel in a niche. The year 1816 is displayed on one of the houses. The architectural details therefore span the period from the 16th to the 19th century: the granary, the wayside chapel and the year 1816 belong to different historical layers of the settlement. Together, these individual testimonies provide a concrete picture of the settlement that has developed over time, without reducing Holubovská Bašta to a single attraction.

Cultural monuments in Čakov

Another historical point of reference is the Church of St. Linhart in Čakov. It is a cultural monument and is mentioned as early as 1343. Its high altar features Late Gothic carved figures from 1520. The years 1343 and 1520 mark two different periods in the church’s history: its early mention and the creation of the surviving Late Gothic figures. Cycling routes offering different impressions

The circular cycling route “Jihočeským venkovem za barokem do Holašovic” is 46 kilometres long. It passes Holubovská Bašta and runs along the dam of Dehtář Pond. For orientation along the route, it is also recorded that it runs over asphalt, gravel and stone paths. This describes the character of the route more precisely than a mere distance in kilometres. The 46-kilometre loop therefore follows the water, while “Kolem Dehtáře” only reveals a view of the entire water surface after crossing a stream and climbing uphill. Another connection to the regional cycling landscape is provided by the route “Do Holašovic za selským barokem z Hluboké”, which also passes Holubovská Bašta.

The “Kolem Dehtáře” tour has a different focus. After crossing a stream, the route climbs uphill; from there, it offers a view of the entire Dehtář Pond. This makes it possible to experience the waterscape not only from the shore but also from an elevated perspective.
