Drslavice: Cultural Trails, Castle Ruins and Nature

Drslavice combines distinctive cultural history with clearly differentiated routes and nature-related attractions. Drslavice Fortress is located directly in the village, while the cultural trail “Through the Land of Master Jan Hus” runs directly through Drslavice. This creates a destination where historical discoveries, shorter routes and longer tours can be combined when planning your trip.

Drslavice Fortress and Historical Features

Drslavice Fortress is a Gothic-Renaissance structure in the Prachatice District. It consists of four distinct rectangular buildings arranged around a small courtyard. Since 1958, the fortress has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Visits are possible by telephone appointment with the owner; there are currently no fixed opening hours. This information should therefore be taken into account when carefully planning your visit.

Hiking and Cycling Routes

The cultural trail “Through the Land of Master Jan Hus” runs directly through Drslavice and is approximately 17 km long. It has a moderate level of difficulty. The cycling route “By Bike Through the Land of Master Jan Hus and Cardinal Vlk” covers a different scale: it passes through Lažiště, Drslavice and Záblatí, is 49 km long in total and has a moderate level of physical difficulty. The two routes therefore differ in length, mode of travel and moderate level of difficulty.

Hus Castle Ruins and the “At the Confluence” Educational Trail

The Hus Castle Ruins stand on a steep rocky spur above the Blanice River on the slope of the 835 m-high Panský vrch. From Křišťanovický rybník near Křišťanovice, they can be reached via a blue-marked hiking trail of approximately 2 km. The “At the Confluence” educational trail is 3.4 km long and leads through a canyon-like section of the Blanice River and the nature reserve of the same name. The steep rocky spur gives this historical destination a distinctive connection to the landscape. The educational trail complements the ruins with an independent nature-focused section along the river. This allows you to distinguish between a historical destination and a shorter route associated with the river and nature reserve.

Observation Tower and Forest Landscape

The Libín Observation Tower is a 27 m-high stone observation tower with 138 steps and year-round access. The climb up 138 steps and the stone construction give the observation tower a different character from the original forest. The Boubín Primeval Forest provides a separate nature theme: it is an original fir-beech woodland with a proportion of spruce. At the tower, the climb is the main focus; at the Boubín Primeval Forest, it is the structure of the woodland.

Another Cultural Discovery

The nativity scene exhibition in Zábrdí comprised more than 500 Czech and foreign nativity scenes. It was open all day, and admission was free.
