Manava – historical paths and views
Maňava connects paths with historical traces and views of the border mountains of the Smrčina Massif. Cycle path 1254 passes through Maňava and is 15 kilometres long. For a shorter excursion, the 4.5-kilometre route “Cestou na Maňávku” to the former settlement of Maňava is available.
A walk with a fixed starting point
The “Cestou na Maňávku” walk begins at the information centre in Horní Planá. The route follows a cycle path for approximately two kilometres to the “na Maňávce” turn-off and returns to Horní Planá along the same path. The path is considered suitable for families with pushchairs. The route is 4.5 kilometres long in total and leads to the former settlement of Maňava. It thus connects the starting point in Horní Planá with a site of former settlement. The distance information refers to different parts of the route: approximately two kilometres lead to the “na Maňávce” turn-off, while the 4.5 kilometres comprise the entire route, including the return. This places the historic destination of Maňava within a clearly described out-and-back route.
Historical traces in and around Maňava
Chlumany is a historic site in the vicinity of Maňava. Traces of the former development have also been preserved in the village itself: four original houses stand in Maňava. These houses give the village a tangible historical connection, while Chlumany, as a nearby historic site, provides another cultural focus in the surrounding area. This character is complemented by the view from Maňava of the border mountains of the Smrčina Massif. A stay can thus be viewed as a combination of local history and landscape.
Several routes for different excursion ideas
Maňava is one of seven stops on the “Toulky Hornoplánskem” visitor route. Another option is the “Za výhledy na Lipno a do kraje” route, which runs through Horní Planá, Pernek, Maňava, and Maňávka. It thus connects four places in a single route. In addition, the “S dětmi na Maňavu za výhledy” cycling tour is 24 kilometres long. The route lengths therefore range from 4.5 kilometres for the walk, through 15 kilometres for cycle path 1254, to 24 kilometres for the cycling tour. For orientation, not only the distances are relevant, but also the form of the route: the walk returns along the same path, whereas the route through Horní Planá, Pernek, Maňava, and Maňávka passes through several places, and the 24-kilometre cycling tour is the longest option.
Routes by length and course
The paths differ not only in length but also in their course: “Cestou na Maňávku” returns along the same path, while “Za výhledy na Lipno a do kraje” connects several places. The “Toulky Hornoplánskem” visitor route comprises seven stops, including Maňava. This places a historic destination, a route with links to several places, and two longer cycling routes alongside one another.
