Cultural Heritage with a Character of Its Own

Sobín combines notable historical landmarks with paths through the forest and surrounding countryside. Particularly striking is the former chapel with a bell turret and bell, built in 1885. It is considered an outstanding example of a small Neo-Gothic sacred building from that year. At the same time, it is one of the few structures of its type documented by original plans. The chapel therefore has particular architectural and documentary significance, even though it should be classified as a former building.

Another historical detail is the Baroque Boží muka roadside shrine in Sobín. It dates from 1776 and is designated as a protected cultural monument. Together with the former chapel, it gives Sobín two clearly distinct points of cultural and historical reference: on the one hand, there is the small 19th-century Neo-Gothic sacred building; on the other, a Baroque monument from the 18th century. Visitors who want to discover not only the landscape but also the region’s architectural history during their stay will find correspondingly different points of interest here.

Cycling Between Sobín, Zličín and Hostivice

Sobín also offers several documented points of reference for getting around by bicycle. The cycle connection between Zličín, Sobín and Hostivice is particularly used by families with children for recreational cycling. At the same time, the existing connection runs along a narrow, heavily trafficked road that is perceived as dangerous. When choosing a specific cycling tour, it is therefore important to take the described route into account and not equate enjoyable recreational use with an unrestricted statement about the conditions along the entire connection.

New markings for cycle route A15 were planned for the Zličín–Sobín section in 2023. In addition, new markings are designated for cycle route A15 on the section between Zličín and Sobín. One tour leads from Zličín to Břve, reaches the road between Sobín and Hostivice, and then joins marked cycle route 201.

Forest Paths and Nature near Břve

Beyond the cycle connections, the surrounding area reveals a more natural side. Paths lead through the deciduous forest to Břevský Pond. A nature trail runs along its shore, adding a themed walking route to the outing. Near Břve, a forest park also forms part of the Hostivické rybníky natural monument. A stay here therefore connects not only with a single waterside destination, but also with forest paths and a protected natural area.

This creates a varied selection of excursion options for families and other travelers: they can view historical buildings in Sobín, assess one of the described cycle connections, or choose paths through the deciduous forest to Břevský Pond. The documented differences between a cultural monument, cycle route, nature trail and natural monument help visitors determine the focus they want for their stay.
