Neurazy combines a distinctive church complex with seasonal cultural offerings: beside the Church of St. Martin stands the wooden bell tower “Dřevěná zvonice,” and the summer cinema operates during the summer. The altar and statue also give the town its own cultural and historical character.

Neurazy at a glance

Neurazy is one of seven districts in the municipality of the same name. The municipality lies between Nepomuk and Plánice in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest, at an elevation of 488 m. It also includes Klikařov, Nová Ves, Partoltice, Radochovy, Soběsuky and Vojovice. This distinction helps differentiate the town’s features from activities described for the municipality as a whole.

St. Martin’s and the bell tower

The Church of St. Martin has undergone extensive reconstruction in recent years. Right beside it stands the freestanding wooden bell tower “Dřevěná zvonice.” It is older than the church and the only reminder of the church hill’s former appearance. In 1958, the bell tower was declared an immovable cultural monument.

The church’s furnishings also offer a specific point of interest: its altar is designed in the Baroque Gothic style and comes from the church on Zelená Hora. Its origins extend the story beyond Neurazy, while its connection to St. Martin’s remains. A 19th-century statue of St. John of Nepomuk provides another historical motif in the town. Together, these features highlight distinct aspects of its sacred cultural history: the church hill’s former appearance, the altar’s origins and the depiction of the saint.

The summer cinema as a seasonal experience

The summer cinema operates during the summer. It is therefore a seasonal part of what the town offers, whereas the architectural and artistic features described here are not tied to a screening schedule. For details of specific screenings, check local information about the current programme. If the cinema is part of your travel plans, schedule your visit around the screenings taking place at the time.

Activities in the wider municipality

Sports facilities are also described for the wider municipality. Behind the Martinská hospoda there is a workout area for sports activities. A green-marked hiking and cycling route, 14–16 km long, also runs through the municipality. It passes through Vojovice and then continues to Nová Ves u Nepomuku. These two offerings are part of the municipality as a whole and should be distinguished from the features around St. Martin that are specifically located in Neurazy.

Neurazy as a place to stay

When looking for a hotel in Neurazy, your reason for travelling can help guide your choice: the town’s cultural history and seasonal summer cinema shape its character, while the workout area and the hiking and cycling route described above are part of the wider municipal offering. Consider whether you want to focus your stay on the town’s cultural features or include activities elsewhere in the municipality as well.
