Černíkov combines a distinctive valley landscape with traces of medieval history and designated cycling opportunities. The village lies at the foot of Malý Kouřim and at the end of a broad, flat valley that gradually rises to the north. On the eastern side, a forested mountain massif on Velký Bítov borders the valley. Those looking for accommodation in Černíkov will find a place where landscapes, castle ruins and regional discoveries come together within a compact thematic area.

Valley Landscape between Malý Kouřim and Velký Bítov

The location gives Černíkov a clearly recognizable character: The broad valley opens into a flat landscape, while gradually rising to the north and being bordered on its eastern side by the forested massif of Velký Bítov. This combination of valley and wooded mountainside shapes the surroundings more strongly than any single viewpoint. For travel planning, the regular bus connections from Černíkov to Kdyně, Domažlice and Klatovy are also relevant. They supplement the village's location with a documented connection to three other towns.

Ruchomperk and the History of the Village

The ruins of Ruchomperk are located in Černíkov and are particularly easy to identify from their unusual layout. The ruins have an oval or rectangular ground plan and are surrounded on three sides by a substantial ditch and an outer rampart. A cross ditch divides the inner layout into two areas. The grounds of Ruchomperk are covered with mature deciduous woodland. Ruchomperk was probably built at the end of the 12th century on the site of a prehistoric fortified settlement. This sequence links an early settlement history with clearly recognizable terrain features.

The history of the village itself also reaches far back: Černíkov was first mentioned in writing in 1379. The former stronghold of Černíkov stood by the village pond next to the village square and was last mentioned as abandoned in 1592. Thus, a vanished fortification is also part of the historical story of the village. About 2 km from Černíkov, the ruins of Pušperk Castle lie on a hill. Pušperk was first mentioned in 1266, making it another historical reference point in the nearby area.
