The first written mention of Libkov dates back to 1329. At that time, the Vilémov Monastery granted the deserted Újezd Bojanov to Jindřich of Lichtenburk for settlement. In 1555, Libkov belonged to the Oheb estate, after the estate had passed from the ownership of the Trčkové z Lípy family into the possession of Václav Robmhapt ze Suché. After the estate was divided between two sons in 1564, Libkov remained part of the Oheb estate, which later became known as the Seč estate. This sequence shows that the village’s history is closely connected with changing systems of lordship.

Crafts, Forestry and Regional Tradition

Earlier activities also give the local history a more tangible character. In the past, flax was grown on a larger scale in Libkov, then spun and woven at home. The residents also used to fell timber in the estate forests and transport it to the timber rafting site on the Chrudimka.
