Bohutín Nad Moravou combines a distinctive landscape with a chapel and a summer open-air theatre in a natural setting, as well as events that make the village an experience in different ways. Between the almost level area along the Morava in the east and the rising heights in the west and north are a chapel dating from 1801, a summer open-air theatre in a natural setting and a blue-marked hiking trail through the village.

Landscape between the Morava, Zbová and Burdova hora

The terrain around Bohutín rises steeply from the almost level plain by the Morava River in the east to Zbová at 445 m above sea level and, to the north, to Burdova hora at 498 m above sea level. This difference in elevation clearly shapes the character of the village. Most of the cadastral area consists of meadows and pastures. Zbová offers particularly beautiful panoramic views in all directions, especially over the Morava valley.

The western slope of Zbová is also one of the area’s distinctive landscape features. The abandoned quarry near Bohutín lies about 500 m east of the municipality and contains one of the most significant occurrences of alpine-type fissure communities in the southern part of the Keprnická skupina. At the eastern edge of the village, a road branches off from the Bohutín–Bludov road and leads directly to the Bohutín–Zbová quarry. This makes it possible to include this specific site when exploring the surroundings without overstating its geological importance through a general excursion description.

Chapel, pilgrimage and open-air theatre

The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in 1801 and is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. A pilgrimage usually takes place there on 8 September. Bohutín’s history is documented in writing as far back as 1493; at that time, the village was called “Bohutínek”. This year and the older place name give today’s landscape experience a clear historical connection.

Below Zbová lies the summer open-air theatre, which is part of a natural setting. As a result, Bohutín is not centred only on individual buildings or viewpoints: culture and landscape are found directly alongside each other here. Announced events may also be of interest to families. The traditional Pohádkový les was announced for 30 May 2026 from 3 p.m. at the Letní divadlo in Bohutín. Along the planned route, children were to meet fairy-tale characters and receive a reward at the destination. Since this was an announcement for a date in the past, it cannot be used to infer a current event date.

Trails and local traditions

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Bohutín. The village is also halfway between Ruda nad Moravou and Bludov on the Moravská stezka. Another combination of outdoor activity and local tradition was offered by Putování za Bohutínskou žábou: in 2025, the event reached its 47th edition, and in 2026 its 48th. For 6 June 2026, cycling routes of 20 to 67 km and hiking routes of 8, 15, 25 and 35 km were planned. The different route lengths illustrate the range of this announced event without claiming that a permanent selection of routes is available for every stay.

The Dýmák pond is also part of the local events calendar. Its draining and fish harvest was announced as a traditional public event for 25 October 2025. The sale of live fish was planned, with the option of having them gutted on site. Those who choose Bohutín as a destination will therefore find, alongside landscape and history, references to regional customs and seasonal events. The relevant dates should be checked separately when planning a specific trip.
