Historical traces around Krchleby
Krchleby, together with Bušínov, have been mentioned in historical sources since 1273 in connection with the bishopric of Mohelnice. The history of the surrounding area is also linked to its former use. In the mid-19th century, several attempts were made in the vicinity of Krchleby to mine iron ore and graphite. Limestone was also extracted there and burned to produce lime.
Several visible memorials add to this historical picture. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from 1920 and stands on the road from Mohelnice towards Maletín. A coarse-grained sandstone cross with a figure of Christ bears the year 1857 as the year the monument was created. A monument to the victims of the First World War was also erected in Krchleby in 1928. Together with the historical columns along the hiking trail, these form a series of different testimonies spanning the period from the medieval mention to the 20th century.
