Hraběšice: Ski Center, Mountain Landscape and Village History
Accommodation in Hraběšice
Hraběšice combines the history of a settlement of lumberjacks and miners with a forested mountain landscape, winter sports and special destinations. The village lies along the upper course of the Hraběšický potok stream and along the road from Šumperk and Nový Malín to Rudoltice.
Forested mountain landscape with a history of its own
The 617-hectare cadastral area of Hraběšice consists mostly of forested mountain landscape. This area is known as Hraběšická hornatina after Hraběšice. The settlement originated as a place for lumberjacks and miners; iron ore was mined in the surrounding area. Hraběšice was first mentioned in writing in 1569. Anyone seeking not only nature experiences but also the historical character of a place will find several interconnected themes here: forest landscape, mining history and the development of the settlement.
Church, frescoes and Baroque art
The local cultural history includes the Church of St Philip and James, built between 1818 and 1825. A parish was established at the church in 1842. Particularly striking are the Neoclassical frescoes covering the walls and ceiling of the chancel. Next to the parish church stands a listed rustic Baroque statue of St John Nepomuk from the second half of the 18th century. These details give a stay in Hraběšice a cultural dimension that clearly differs from a day focused solely on nature or winter sports.
Skipark Hraběšice for winter and summer trips
Skipark Hraběšice is a family-friendly ski center with slopes at an elevation of 530 to 660 meters. Two interconnected lifts serve the slope; the longer one is a 620-meter-long double drag lift. A ski school for children and adults is also part of the offering. This makes it possible to combine winter sports in Hraběšice with different age groups without limiting the destination to just one type of trip. During the summer months, a swimming pool is available in the Skipark below the slope. Thus, in addition to skiing, the documented offering also includes a seasonal option for a summer stay.
Krásné and the surrounding area
In the nearby area, the Krásné reservoir, its surroundings and the settlement of Krásné form a recreational area close to the city. The nearby Krásné quarry offers a distinctly different landscape impression. It is an active wall quarry with four main levels and walls at least 40 meters high.
