Vyšní Lhoty – Prašivá, Morávka and Protected Landscapes
Accommodation in Vyšní Lhoty
A trip to Vyšní Lhoty can combine historic destinations on Prašivá, routes through varied landscapes and protected river areas. This creates a destination where culture, outdoor activities and nature observation offer different focal points for travel planning. A church, mountain chalet, educational trail and river landscape are all part of a theme that encompasses both historical sightseeing and active exploration. On Prašivá, historic buildings and an integrated observation tower meet an officially designated flying site; at the Morávka, river ecosystems are joined by a technical curiosity.
Historic destinations and routes on Prašivá
The wooden church on Prašivá was built in 1640 and is a national cultural monument. Its opening to the public is tied to specific dates: it is accessible during the pilgrimage on the first Sunday after 13 June and during several other masses. The historic wooden Prašivá mountain chalet dates from 1921 and stands at an elevation of 706 metres above sea level. The mountain chalet also incorporates a historic observation tower.
Running and cycling routes begin and end at the Prašivá mountain chalet. The Prašivá educational trail has 26 information boards and two panoramic viewpoints. It passes through 11 municipalities. Cycle route 6174 connects Prašivá via Vyšní Lhoty with Žermanice and Záguří. Another access route to the educational trail runs from Morávka via Pražmo and Vyšní Lhoty to Prašivá. Thus, both individual routes and longer connections through several municipalities are established on Prašivá.
Morávka and protected landscapes
The Skalická Morávka National Nature Monument also includes the cadastral area of Vyšní Lhoty. It protects a natural, dynamic and branching gravel-bed section of the Morávka. The protected area includes gravel bars and riparian ecosystems in which rare or endangered plant and animal species occur. The protected landscape therefore encompasses both the river channel and the adjacent riparian areas. A special technical attraction is the weir near Vyšní Lhoty: it divides the Morávka into a natural river channel and a water-supply canal and is considered a technical rarity.
Another protected area is the Kršle Nature Reserve in the cadastral area of Vyšní Lhoty. It covers 35.9007 hectares and extends across elevations from 410 to 700 metres. Kršle encompasses an overall elevation range of 290 metres between 410 and 700 metres. The Skalická Morávka locality is accessible without restriction and can be reached by car within 250 metres.
An officially designated flying site for paragliding operations, with operating regulations, is located on Prašivá. The Kamenité natural amphitheatre is open to the general public and serves for cultural and social events. Access to the church is tied to pilgrimages and masses, while Kamenité is open to the general public.
