Nové Sedlo between cycling trails, water and culture
Accommodation in Nové Sedlo
Nové Sedlo (Neusattl) combines a technically oriented one-way trail with an artificially created water area and several cultural landmarks. Cycling, a landscaped waterside setting and local history therefore sit side by side. The town’s elevation in the Karlovarský kraj and its local waterways also give it a specific geographical setting. If, for your trip, you are looking for more than just a place to stay and want a clear theme, Nové Sedlo can be particularly understood through this combination of cycling, landscape and culture.
Cycling and the one-way trail
A technically oriented one-way trail was completed in August 2026 at the Centrum cyklistiky Nové Sedlo in Malá Anna. It is intended for both sporting and recreational use by the general public. The one-way layout and technical character describe this particular cycling route; at the same time, its intended use covers both sport and recreation. The trail offers a clear point of interest when deciding on a trip if you are looking for a place with a specific cycling focus. In Nové Sedlo, cycling is therefore not just a general connection to the landscape, but is represented by a particular route.
Elevation and waterside landscape
Nové Sedlo lies in the Karlovarský kraj at an elevation of 440 to 484 metres above sea level. Pískový Vrch is the highest point of the Chodovská pánev. These figures describe different scales: the elevation of the town and the highest point of the basin. This makes it possible to place Nové Sedlo geographically without treating the two elevation figures as equivalent.
The artificially created, multi-purpose Anna water area covers four hectares. Its size and artificial construction make it a landscaped feature of the local surroundings. Waterways also shape the area’s geographical setting: the Loučský potok drains the area around Nové Sedlo and flows into the Ohře (Eger) before Loket (Elbogen). The small Novosedelský potok is a tributary and drains the central part of the town. The water area and the streams thus show different aspects of the local landscape.
Art and local history
In the public realm is “Trouba z Jericha,” a work by the prominent Czech sculptor Aleš Veselý, described as unique in Bohemia. Its connection to a specific artist adds a cultural perspective to the town’s description, alongside cycling and the waterside landscape. For travellers interested in public art, the work is a distinct reason to take a closer look at Nové Sedlo.
At the southern edge of Nové Sedlo, a stone Baroque chapel stands at an important crossroads on the road to Loket. After 1945, it was no longer maintained and gradually fell into disrepair; its interior furnishings were stolen. This forms part of the town’s history and adds the chapel’s post-Second World War story to its description.
The Památník padlých bojovníků I. a II. odboje is also located in Nové Sedlo. It is classified as a museum.
