Church and places of remembrance
The Church of St. John the Baptist combines Gothic origins with an extensive Baroque remodeling. Its furnishings and the buildings in its surroundings can also be dated: the main altar, made in 1795, was created by a woodcarver from Český Brod. The church tower, which houses three bells, was built in 1779. Below the church and near the village square, there is also a bell tower dating from 1934. These dates point to different phases of construction; the church tower and the nearby bell tower are two separate structures.
Local history can also be found beyond the church, in specific places of remembrance. The linden tree near the Boží muka (U křížku) stands on the hill north of Tehov and was declared a memorial tree of the Czech Republic in January 2017. A wayside shrine beneath a linden tree near Tehov commemorates the severe famine of 1770. Historical interest thus extends from the history and furnishings of the buildings to the remembrance of a specific event.
Bike park and treasure hunt
With its pump track and integrated dirt-jump section, Tehov Sports and Bike Park is for visitors interested in cycling. The park is free and open to the public year-round; some areas may be closed for maintenance. The dirt areas may also be closed after rain or during maintenance work. If you are planning to visit the park, check municipal notices in advance for temporary closures.
Another activity is the treasure hunt “Putování Tehovem za pokladem.” It starts at the school in the village square and also ends in the village square. Both endpoints are therefore at the same location.
Local events and surroundings
The Tehovský kulturní spolek has been active in Tehov since 2014. Events it organizes include costume balls, the Tehov Children’s Olympics, Christmas and Easter markets, a witch-burning event, Shrovetide celebrations and kite festivals. The program spans festivals and markets as well as other local events. Since no specific event date is assumed, check the dates if you are planning your trip around a particular event.
The wider area around the destination offers other points of interest. The Spojené osady Údolí Raků consist of three neighboring settlements in the valley: Údolí Raků, Miriam and Zapomenutých. Sports tournaments and competitions are still held there. A shelter by the forest pond Jedlice is a place where you can stop for a snack.
The forest near Klokočná is also in the surrounding area, not in Tehov itself. During timber harvesting, individual trees are selected rather than clear-cutting; as a result, no clearings are created. These examples range from settlement culture and sporting events to forestry and a place to rest by the pond. They give a sense of the variety of places described in the area without combining them into a single route.
