Javorník U Vlašimi combines landscape, trails, history, and recreation to offer various points of interest for planning your trip. The main attractions are the Kalamajka Observation Tower and the distinctive Javornická hůra; there are also several routes to Javorník, a chapel, a memorial, and places for active leisure. This allows you to organize your stay around your preferred focus: views, route, historical impressions, or relaxation. The individual destinations each offer a different emphasis, so Javorník is not limited to a single attraction.

Views and landscape

The Kalamajka Observation Tower is open to the public free of charge, is unmanned, and can be accessed after borrowing a key. Two specific points are therefore important for your visit: the key for access and the climb to the viewing platform via 117 steps. This means the visit differs from that to a ground-level viewpoint. Anyone planning to visit the tower can expect a clearly defined experience involving access with a key and a specified number of steps. The climb of 117 steps is therefore an integral part of the experience.

Javornická hůra is the prominent, 583-meter-high hill west of Javorník, visible from far away. Its landscape history also reaches far back: until the beginning of the 19th century, it was bare and unforested, opening up views across a landscape several dozen kilometers away. The site therefore combines the hill’s specific elevation and location with a historical change in its appearance. Unlike the tower, the focus here is not on climbing steps but on the distinctive hill itself.

Trails with different routes

Several routes to Javorník differ in their course. A green-marked hiking trail leads to Javorník and continues through Černý les. A forest path from the Peklo inn leads via the northern foothills of Javornická hůra to Javorník. From Mnichovice, one route goes around the western slope of Javornická hůra; an alternative route from Mnichovice runs over the summit of Horka. This makes it possible to see whether you prefer a route through Černý les, via the northern foothills, around the western slope, or over a summit. The two routes from Mnichovice allow a direct comparison between a route along the western slope and one over the summit of Horka.

Culture and recreation in Javorník

The cultural and recreational sites complement these landscape and trail experiences. The Chapel of Saint Ludmila was reconstructed in 1993. Javorník also has a well-maintained memorial to those who fell in both world wars. The V Markovech recreation area features a small multipurpose water basin with a slide. For an active break, the municipal tennis court in Javorník can be used for recreation. The chapel and memorial represent historical points of reference, while the water basin and tennis court offer a different focus.
