Hřebeč brings together three distinct interests: leisure by the water, sports and local archaeological history. The Hřebečská Reservoir is used for recreation, the municipality operates the Hřebeč Sports Complex, and Tvrziště Tasov is a significant archaeological site within the cadastral area of Hřebeč. Together, these themes give the place several sides: at the reservoir, recreation and visitor rules take center stage; at the sports complex, the rental of selected facilities; and at Tasov, the history of a fortification and a new settlement. This lets you get a sense of Hřebeč based on what interests you—water, sports or the history of the place.

Hřebečská Reservoir: Leisure by the Water

The Hřebečská Reservoir was built on the Lidický potok in 1976 and covers an area of four hectares. It is used for recreational activities. Visitors are asked to observe the visitor rules. Fishing is prohibited in a fish-breeding area. If you want to fish, check the current rules with the municipality before your visit; requirements may change.

Hřebeč Sports Complex: Sports Facilities for Rent

The Hřebeč Sports Complex is a multi-purpose sports complex operated by the municipality. It offers selected sports facilities for rent to associations, clubs and the public. If you plan to make sports a regular part of your stay, this is a practical option for arranging use with the municipality. Rental agreements and availability may change, so confirm both before your visit. The difference from recreational use of the reservoir is practical: the sports complex specifically offers selected facilities for rent.

Tvrziště Tasov and the History of the Place

Tvrziště Tasov is one of the significant archaeological sites in the cadastral area of Hřebeč. The site lies east of Hřebeč at the edge of a slope above a road. Its circular core fortification is surrounded by a ditch, with an earthen rampart built along its southern side. The core, ditch and southern rampart give the site its distinctive basic layout.

The local history extends beyond the fortification. In 1285, the new owner, Vojslav Rebecki, a minor Polish nobleman, founded a new settlement with a fortified manor house west of the destroyed Tasov fortress in the valley of the Lidický potok. This distinguishes two stages: the destroyed fortress and the settlement founded west of it in 1285. By comparison, the Hřebečská Reservoir, built in 1976, is a much more recent landmark.

Literature and Public Life in Hřebeč

Hřebeč is also the birthplace of Karel Šiktanc, a Czech poet, lyricist and screenwriter. He was born here on July 10, 1928, and died in Prague on December 26, 2021. His life connects the place name with the history of Czech literature. The public library offers another connection to community life: it lends books, magazines and board games and provides the public with free internet access. In Hřebeč, cultural heritage and a municipal service sit side by side.
