Bdín – historic village structure in Džbán Nature Park

Bdín combines a remarkably well-preserved village structure with the hilly landscape of Džbán Nature Park. Bdín has a rare, exceptionally well-preserved historic settlement structure that has been practically unaffected by modern development. Bdín first appears in the written historical record in 1318; Jan ze Bdína (Jan de Ptyna) is associated with this early reference to the village. A small bell tower stands on the village square. Also located there is a bust of Jan Amos Comenius, created in 1913 by the sculptor F. Čech. Both details give the village square a clearly recognisable historic character, without requiring you to undertake an extensive tour of the village. Nature Park, Forest and Water

The Bakovský potok stream also flows through Bdín. Route No. 11 – Kozojedy through Bdín

The 40 km Route No. 11 – Kozojedy runs from Srbeč via Bdín to Kroučová. At the entrance to Bdín, it turns onto a narrow road that soon climbs uphill. After the ascent, the blue-marked tourist route passes through a beech forest towards Kroučová and Třeboc. The sequence from Srbeč via Bdín to Kroučová and onward towards Třeboc places the route in its geographical context. This allows you, when planning, to distinguish between the village’s history, the landscape, or a combination of both themes. The incline and the subsequent beech forest mark a transition from the built-up village area into a forest-rich environment.

Points of Interest in the Surrounding Area

In the vicinity of Bdín, on Vošková Hill, there is a transmitter in the form of an artificial pine tree. In the 1990s, it became the first device of its kind in the Czech Republic.
