The marked cycling route 6216 runs through Police to Valašské Meziříčí. The village is also home to an arboretum, a pump track open to the general public, and countryside between hills and mountain ranges. There is also a chapel, a memorial and various local events. This makes it possible to discover the village from a wide range of different interests.

Countryside around Police

Police lies on the edge of the Kelečská pahorkatina, the Keleč Hills. The southern part of the village extends into the slopes of the Hostýnské vrchy. At 557 metres, Hůrka is the highest point in Police; the Loučka forms the axis of the cadastral area. These geographical features give the village a distinct landscape setting, without reducing its surroundings to a single mountain range.

Its location in relation to Valašské Meziříčí is also easy to place: Police lies seven kilometres to the southwest. When planning a trip, you can use this distance as a guide on the map and also consider which experiences in Police itself interest you.

Arboretum, views and cycling

The Police Arboretum is located on the site of the former Ve Zmole orchard. It is home to 70 species of trees and shrubs commonly found in Central Europe. The arboretum offers a panorama of the Beskydy and Javorníky. It brings together a collection of familiar Central European woody plants and views of two named mountain regions.

The arboretum opened in May 2018; at the time, admission was free to the public. Check access before planning a specific visit. This keeps the historical information separate from the question of whether a visit is currently possible.

The marked cycling route 6216 runs through Police to Valašské Meziříčí. There is also a pump track on municipal land that is open to the general public. For travel planning, these are two different cycling options: a marked route through the village to a named destination, and a public facility in Police.

The Cyrilometodějská stezka runs through the southeastern part of the cadastral area. This European cultural route is a network of several routes that lead to Velehrad from different directions and follow the trail of Slavic roots. It represents a different theme from cycling route 6216: here, cultural history and the direction towards Velehrad shape the character of the route network.

Chapel, memorial and local events

Police is home to the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of the Lord, built in 1933. A memorial commemorates the victims of both world wars. These two places complement the landscape and activity themes with tangible reminders of local remembrance and history.

Events held in 2026 also offer a glimpse into local life. At the Vepřové hody on 24 January, visitors could sample traditional pork-butchering specialities. The Polický košt slivovice took place on 14 March at Hospoda Nad Točnou; it was the third edition. These dates refer to the events in 2026.

The traditional New Year’s walking trip, in its edition on 17 January 2026, went on foot to Oznice and back to Police. On 7 February, the masked Vodění medvěda carnival procession visited residents’ homes. Police was also a co-organiser in 2026 of the mountain-bike competition “Polický okruh – memoriál Milana Gerly,” which is part of the DTB Série. These examples represent a variety of interests: walking, local carnival traditions, a cycling competition and regional specialities.

Getting here and choosing where to stay

Police is served by bus routes and train services. Check the timetables for your travel dates before planning your journey. The available connections may be an important factor in deciding whether to consider Police as a place to stay.

There are several specific points to consider when deciding whether Police suits your travel interests: the cycling route and pump track, the arboretum and its panorama, the Cyrilometodějská stezka, and the chapel and memorial. Visitors primarily interested in landscapes and trees will find the arboretum offers a different focus from the cultural routes. Local events add dated examples from 2026 to these options.
