Discover Slavětice
Accommodation in Slavětice
Slavětice combines a gently rolling landscape with local history, water and unusual glimpses into the past. A chapel stands on the village square; it was built towards the end of the 19th century and can be visited by tourists. The Dalešice pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant is located about 3 km to the south.
Village Square, Pilgrimage and Traces of History
The chapel on the village square is a concrete starting point for getting to know Slavětice as a village that has developed over time. Its construction towards the end of the 19th century gives the village square a clear historical connection. The local tradition of the Slavětická pouť pilgrimage also forms part of the character of the village. As part of a Slavětická pouť, a mass was held at the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. The pilgrimage is therefore not merely a name, but part of the traditional local festival culture.
Archaeological finds in the area around Slavětice date back to several periods: they come from the Old Stone Age, the Bell Beaker period and the La Tène period. Those interested in long periods of time and the development of human settlement will therefore find a different way of exploring the surroundings here than on a purely landscape-focused excursion. Another testament to local memory is the monument in Slavětice, which was unveiled on 31 August 1924.
You will also encounter a historical connection on the road to Dalešice. A cross there served as a place of farewell to the deceased during funerals. The mill on the Jihlava River has been documented in writing since 1392; at the same time, the historic mill was flooded by the reservoir waters. It is precisely this combination of written records and changes to the landscape that makes the history of the mill an independent theme within the history of the village.
Gently Rolling Landscape and the “Před školou” Pond
Slavětice lies in a gently rolling landscape about 3 km south of the Dalešice pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant. In the village itself, the “Před školou” pond offers a place for relaxation and leisure activities. It is also used for fishing.
If you are planning a stay with various interests, Slavětice can therefore be discovered at several paces: with a walk around the village square and places of remembrance, with time by the pond or with a more intensive focus on history and the landscape. When choosing accommodation, the desired focus of your stay is particularly important. If you are looking for the character of the village itself, the chapel, pond and historical landmarks form the main focus; if you would like to add a technical theme, there is a separate place to visit for that.
A Technical Insight into Dukovany
At the information centre of the Dukovany nuclear power plant, visitors can take a guided tour of the operating area. This visit differs markedly from the cultural and historical impressions of Slavětice: here, the focus is on a guided exploration of a technical facility. This allows you to consciously balance your travel interests between village history, landscape, water and technology without confusing the individual experiences with one another.
