Lány

Lány lies at the foot of the Železné hory and combines a varied relief with a landscape protected on several levels. The entire municipality lies within the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. The village is particularly interesting when choosing accommodation if you want to combine nature experiences, marked trails and small cultural discoveries in a manageable destination.

Protected landscape with different zones

The cadastral area of Lány u Libice nad Doubravou lies predominantly in Zones II and III of the Protected Landscape Area. In the southern part west of Suchá, the Hradiště locality extends into Zone I at its edge. Lány and Suchá also lie predominantly in Zone II. This zone represents a balance between natural features and human structures, a high ecological and aesthetic value, and favourable natural conditions for recreation.

The landscape is not merely abstract: at the southern edge of the settlement stands the „Lípa v Lánech“, designated as a memorial tree. The tree is about 25 metres tall. Another notable lime tree is the Lánská lípa, which is 500 years old. Both names give the village distinctive natural features, but differ in their documented designations and their respective location references.

Hiking on marked trails

There are different types of routes for hiking through the surrounding area. The KČT route „Trasa 1 – přes nejvyšší vrcholy Železných hor“ follows the green-marked trail from Libice nad Doubravou to Lány and leaves the settlement after approximately 100 metres.

Another option is the hiking loop through the Doubravské údolí, which passes through Lány. For planning your day, you can therefore choose between a route from Libice nad Doubravou to Lány and a loop through the Doubravské údolí.

Cycling and small local discoveries

The region also offers a cycling tour with a specific route description. The cycling route „S Doubravkou Železnými horami: geocyklotrasou za pamětí stromových velikánů“ is 38 kilometres long and starts and ends in Libice nad Doubravou. Its title places the tour in the context of the Doubravka, the Železné hory and the remembrance of particularly old trees. The 500-year-old Lánská lípa forms a distinct natural landmark in the documented local landscape.

In the centre of Lány there is also a wooden bell tower and a stone cross dating from 1897. These two details are located in the centre of the settlement and complement the walking and landscape experiences with a short cultural stop. This allows a stay in Lány to be put together around the protected landscape, hiking, cycling and local history, without reducing the village to just one type of experience.
