Accommodation in Spělkov
Spělkov combines a long history with a distinctive landscape along the Svratka. The village lies in hilly terrain at an altitude of 610 m; the entire area belongs to the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. Those who want to combine nature, historical traces and active experiences on their trip will find various options for planning their days here, as well as a clearly distinctive village landscape.
Landscape between the Svratka and the Žďárské vrchy
At Spělkov, the Svratka forms the boundary between Bohemia and Moravia. The cadastral area is predominantly forested and interspersed with meadows. In addition, the Spělkov cadastral area includes the site of European importance “Údolí Svratky u Krásného”. This site is part of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and gives the surrounding area an additional natural-history significance.
The nearby area includes the 813 m-high Buchtův kopec. It offers a beautiful view. When planning your trip, you can therefore take various landscape impressions into account: the forested area around Spělkov, characterized by meadows, its location on the Svratka boundary, and the viewpoint in the surrounding area. Your choice of accommodation may depend on whether you mainly want to experience such landscapes or also plan to explore local history and trails.
Trails for hiking and cycling
One particularly specific option is the “Stromová stezka Zpívající lípy” circular trail. It connects 11 tree stations and is approximately 20 km long. On foot, the circular trail can be completed in about six hours. If you want to include the entire route in your plans, take its approximate length and walking time into account when planning your day. The tree stations give the trail a clear thematic profile without requiring you to limit your stay to a single attraction.
For a shorter route, the 9 km-long “Za roubenkami údolím Svratky” trail is available. It starts in Spělkov village square and follows a red-marked cycle route. This information helps you distinguish between a longer walk with tree stations and a shorter route focused on cycling. Those traveling with different interests can view the two trails as different options for planning their day.
Historical traces in the village
The origins of Spělkov date back to the 13th century. The oldest known mention of the village comes from 1392. According to the oldest known record, the settlement was founded in the territory of Pernštejn Castle. This historical tradition adds a sense of time to the landscape experiences and also makes Spělkov interesting for travelers who seek regional stories during their stay.
A visible feature in the village is the bell tower in the Protestant cemetery. It stands among old, protected lime trees. The cemetery, lime trees and bell tower form a specific point of interest for peacefully discovering the village landscape. Spělkov’s historical character is therefore reflected not only in dates, but also in individual features that you can observe on site.
