Historic Nové Veselí with Special Discoveries

Nové Veselí combines vivid cultural history with nature experiences and the signposted cycle route No. 4369, established in 2018. The town is ideal for days when you want to combine historic buildings, regional highlights and observations in the countryside. Several attractions are so varied that they can inspire entirely different excursions: some lead to Baroque and Renaissance monuments, while others take you to the water or a birdwatching site.

A prominent cultural landmark is St. Wenceslas Church. The single-nave Baroque building was constructed in 1752 and consecrated in 1757. The Baroque Chapel of St. Roch, dating from 1680, is also worth seeing. The Renaissance chateau features Renaissance portals and an arcaded gallery dating from 1564. This historic picture is complemented by a former mill with preserved sgraffito decorations on its façade. The different historical periods make exploring the town particularly varied, without requiring you to focus on just one historical theme.

Educational Trails, Cycle Route and Nature by the Water

The signposted cycle route No. 4369 has passed through Nové Veselí since 2018. Those who want to explore the town actively can also follow the educational trail “Our Nové Veselí”. It comprises ten stops devoted to local sights, monuments and notable figures. The trail thus connects local history with specific places rather than merely presenting individual pieces of information side by side.

Another option is the Nové Veselí Water Educational Trail along the northern shore of Novoveselský rybník. Ten information panels include interactive elements and tasks for children. At some stops, you can observe small invertebrates and learn about protected plant species. This creates an outing where children can pursue their own questions while adults discover the natural features of the shore at the same time.

Exploring the landscape also includes a birdwatching site on a peninsula in the “U kačenárny” locality. It can be reached via the road to Matějov through the biketrial area. This specific route description helps you deliberately include the nature site in your exploration of the town without confusing it with the water educational trail.

Culture and Leisure in Different Forms

In Nové Veselí, you can also visit a permanent exhibition featuring works by Julius Pelikán. It is accessible during office hours and at any time upon request. For sporting variety, the sports complex near Pohanků offers a squash court and a tennis court. Finally, a brass band from Nové Veselí represents a special local tradition, having a history of more than one hundred years. Together, these attractions create a townscape in which architectural history, nature observation, exercise and music each have their own place side by side.
