Lisna between Landscape and Local History

Lisna combines a mountainous landscape with an unusually clearly recognizable local history. Líšná is located in the northeastern, mountainous terrain of the Žďár nad Sázavou District and in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area, including Zones I, II and III. In the mountainous surroundings, the natural environment and village structure lie directly alongside each other. Horní Líšná and Dolní Líšná add two settlements with their own hillside and valley locations to the landscape.

Fryšávka, Forest and Protected Landscape

The Vříšť stream, also known as Fryšávka, flows through the cadastral territory of Líšná. Young alluvial deposits with grass vegetation lie along its banks. Líšná also includes 211 hectares of forest and 0.74 hectares of utility ponds. The ponds complement the stream with standing water bodies, while the forest areas form another part of the landscape.

A distinctive landscape feature is Černá skála. It is an isolated rock formation made of Buližnit in the forest, approximately 2 km from Líšná. The distance of approximately 2 km is intended as an orientation and is not an exact boundary or route indication. The rock formation therefore lies in a different type of landscape from the open riverbanks and utility ponds.

Horní Líšná and Dolní Líšná

The two settlements have different spatial characteristics. Horní Líšná lies on a slope on the left, elevated bank of the Fryšávka. Dolní Líšná lies in the Fryšávka valley. In Horní Líšná, the houses form a loosely arranged village square with a pond. The historic village square of Horní Líšná is also connected with a preserved site plan from 1741.

The history of the settlement goes back further: the first known mention of Líšná dates from 1500. Until the end of the previous century, most buildings in Líšná were built using timber-block construction. Líšná is also assigned to the folk architecture region of “dům českomoravské vrchoviny – horácký dům”. Dolní Líšná historically had a manorial hammer mill. The historic center of Líšná forms part of the main compositional axis of the Fryšávka. Timber-block construction and the hammer mill add traces of building and craftwork to the local history.

Hiking and Cycling around Líšná

Several marked routes are available for active days. A blue-marked hiking route is designated in Líšná. Marked Cycling Route 4338 leads from Líšná onward toward Daňkovice. A section of the “Walk around Sněžné” hiking route leads from Daňkovice to Líšná; there are beautiful views along this section. This provides options for planning the day, including routes in the settlement, a cycling connection toward Daňkovice and a hiking section between Daňkovice and Líšná.

When choosing accommodation in Lisna, the settlements and your preferred type of trip can make the decisive difference. Horní Líšná represents the hillside location and historic village square, while Dolní Líšná represents the valley location on the Fryšávka. The routes also lead into the surrounding area, without implying any particular accommodation location or amenities. Depending on your focus, local history, the natural environment or active routes can therefore take center stage.
